The Silverado 1500 is the second most-quoted vehicle on our phones, and the one where the glovebox RPO label matters most. Cooling, axle, suspension and transfer case parts all depend on option codes the VIN does not carry. Below are the four generations still on the road, what changed between them, and the parts we ship for each.

Fitment traps on the Silverado 1500
- 2007 has two trucks: the 2007 Classic is the 1999–2006 GMT800 body, the 'new' 2007 is GMT900. Almost nothing crosses between them.
- The RPO label decides radiators (V08, KNP, KC4), axle ratio (GU6, GT4, GT5, G80 locker), suspension (Z71, Z85, NHT) and transfer case (NP1, NP8). The VIN alone cannot separate two trucks that look identical.
- 2007–2013 5.3 engines with Active Fuel Management (LC9, LMG) are known for collapsed lifters; the fix uses AFM-delete or replacement lifters, not the older LM7 parts.
- 2014 and newer 5.3 and 6.2 engines are direct injection. Injectors, high-pressure fuel pumps and intake manifolds do not interchange with 2013 and earlier.
- Bed length and cab style change the driveshaft, fuel tank, brake lines and bed panels. Crew cab short bed and regular cab long bed share very little underneath.
- Tow-package trucks have a different radiator, a transmission cooler and often a different rear axle ratio, all of which change the parts quoted.

Mechanically almost always yes: engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, cooling and drivetrain are shared. Grilles, headlights, tail lights, bumpers and interior trim differ between the two brands.
The eighth digit of the VIN gives the engine code, and the RPO label lists it as an L-code (LM7, LC9, L83 and so on). Either one lets us match injectors, coils, converters and water pumps.
