Mercedes-Benz parts are sold by chassis code and build date more than by model name — a 2008 C300 (W204) and a 2015 C300 (W205) share nothing, and options like Airmatic suspension, 4Matic, Sport packages and parking sensors change the part. - Mercedes-Benz Engine, Fuel & IgnitionThe M272 (3.5 V6) and M273 (4.7 and 5.5 V8) of 2005–2011 are known for balance-shaft and idler-gear wear and intake manifold flap failures; the later M276 and M278 direct-injection engines use different plugs, coils, injectors and a high-pressure fuel pump.
- Mercedes-Benz Body & LightingHeadlamps are sold by lighting type — halogen, bi-xenon, and LED Intelligent Light System — and by facelift: the W204 C-Class changed in 2012, the W212 E-Class in 2014, the X164 GL in 2010 and the X166 in 2016, so production date decides the housing and the bumper.
- Mercedes-Benz Batteries & ElectricalMany models carry a Group 49 (H8) AGM main battery in the trunk or under the seat, plus a small auxiliary battery for the SBC brakes or start-stop system — an auxiliary battery warning is one of the most common Mercedes electrical complaints.
