Why Lincoln parts need a specialist
Lincoln builds on Ford platforms — Navigator with Expedition, MKX and Nautilus with Edge, MKZ with Fusion, MKC and Corsair with Escape, Town Car with Crown Victoria — but Lincoln trims add air suspension, power running boards, adaptive lighting and unique body parts. Many of the Lincoln parts we quote are for 1998–2011 Town Car and Navigator still in service, so we cross-reference the Ford part where it fits and the Lincoln-only part where it does not.
Lincoln parts by category
- Lincoln Engine, Fuel & IgnitionThe 4.6-liter 2-valve V8 in Town Car uses coil-on-plug ignition and is known for spark plug threads stripping on early aluminum heads; the 5.4 3-valve V8 in 2005–2014 Navigator is known for two-piece spark plugs that break on removal and for cam phaser and timing chain guide wear.
- Lincoln Body & LightingNavigator headlamps changed with the 2003, 2007, 2015 and 2018 model years and are sold as HID and LED versions; the power-fold, memory and camera mirrors on 2015-and-newer trucks are trim-specific.
- Lincoln Batteries & ElectricalTown Car and Navigator commonly take a Group 65 battery, and Navigator's power running boards, power liftgate and air-suspension compressor are frequent electrical orders; the running board motors on 2007–2017 trucks are a well-known failure.
- Lincoln Suspension & SteeringNavigator (1998–2017) used rear air suspension on most trims, and the air springs, compressor and ride-height sensors are the most common Navigator orders; a conversion kit to coil springs is a popular alternative on older trucks.
- Lincoln Brake PartsTown Car (1998–2011) shares brakes with Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis of the same year, with larger brakes on 2003-and-newer cars; Navigator brakes follow the Expedition generations (1997–2002, 2003–2006, 2007–2017, 2018+).
- Lincoln Cooling & AC PartsTown Car radiators are shared with Crown Victoria and are known for cracked tanks and leaking transmission cooler lines; the 4.6 V8 water pump and thermostat housing are straightforward replacements.
- Lincoln Drivetrain & ExhaustTown Car and the rear-drive Mark VIII use a driveshaft with U-joints and an 8.8-inch rear axle shared with Crown Victoria; the rear axle ratio is on the door-jamb label, and the differential pinion seal is a common leak.
- Lincoln Filters & FluidsTown Car and Navigator take 5W-20 oil and a standard Motorcraft spin-on filter, while the EcoBoost engines require full-synthetic 5W-30; the 3.5 Duratec V6 uses a cartridge filter on some years and a spin-on on others.
