Why Cadillac parts need a specialist
Cadillac spans two very different families: the truck-based Escalade, which shares much with Tahoe and Yukon, and the sedans and crossovers — DeVille, DTS, Seville and STS with the Northstar V8, CTS and ATS on rear-drive platforms, and the SRX and XT5 crossovers. Many of the Cadillac parts we quote are for 1998–2012 DeVille, DTS, CTS and SRX, so we match the part to the exact year, engine and package on your VIN rather than the model name.
Cadillac parts by category
- Cadillac Engine, Fuel & IgnitionThe Northstar 4.6 V8 (DeVille, DTS, Seville, STS, SRX) uses coil-on-plug with two coil cassettes on early engines and individual coils later; its well-known head-bolt thread failure means many of these cars are quoted for head gasket sets, stud kits and oil cooler seals.
- Cadillac Body & LightingCadillac HID and LED headlamps are trim- and year-specific — 2008–2013 CTS, 2014+ CTS, 2010–2016 SRX and 2015+ Escalade each use different housings — and adaptive swiveling headlamps use a different assembly than fixed ones on the same model.
- Cadillac Batteries & ElectricalNorthstar-powered DeVille, DTS, Seville and STS place the battery under the rear seat, so the group size and vent tube matter; Escalade uses a Group 48 (H6) under the hood like other GM trucks.
- Cadillac Suspension & SteeringMagnetic Ride Control (RPO F55) shocks and struts on Escalade, CTS-V, ATS-V, SRX and XTS are electronically controlled and cost far more than passive units; a car ordered without it uses conventional parts, so the glovebox label decides which.
- Cadillac Brake PartsEscalade brakes follow the GM full-size truck generations (2002–2006, 2007–2014, 2015–2020, 2021+), and the 2021+ Escalade uses larger brakes and an electronic parking brake; Escalade ESV and EXT share parts with the standard truck of the same year.
- Cadillac Cooling & AC PartsNorthstar radiators, water pump (driven by its own belt off the cam), thermostat and crossover housings are sold by engine year, and the rear-mounted water pump belt and tensioner are a common replacement on DeVille and DTS.
- Cadillac Drivetrain & ExhaustFront-drive Northstar cars use front CV axles and a 4T80-E transaxle, while CTS, ATS and the rear-drive STS use a rear differential and, on AWD cars, a transfer case and front axles sold separately by year.
- Cadillac Filters & FluidsNorthstar engines call for a specific spin-on filter and 5W-30 oil, and the 4T80-E transaxle uses DEXRON VI with a two-part filter kit; the Northstar cooling system needs DEX-COOL plus GM's cooling-system sealant tablets on early engines.
