Why Lexus parts need a specialist
Lexus shares engines and platforms with Toyota — ES with Camry and Avalon, RX with Highlander, GX with 4Runner and Land Cruiser Prado — but Lexus-specific lighting, body panels, air suspension and trim mean the Toyota part does not always fit. Many of the Lexus parts we quote are for 2001–2012 ES, RX and LS that are past dealer support, so we match the part number to the exact VIN.
Lexus parts by category
- Lexus Engine, Fuel & IgnitionThe 2GR-FE 3.5 V6 (ES350, RX350, IS350) uses six coils and iridium plugs, and 2007–2010 engines are known for the rubber VVT-i oil line that fails; the 1MZ 3.0 and 3MZ 3.3 V6 use a timing belt and were known for oil sludge when maintenance was skipped.
- Lexus Body & LightingLexus headlamps are sold by halogen, HID and LED type and by facelift — ES350 changed in 2010 and 2016, RX350 in 2010 and 2016, IS in 2011 and 2017 — and Adaptive Front Lighting headlamps use a different assembly from fixed ones.
- Lexus Batteries & ElectricalMost Lexus models take a Group 24F battery (Group 35 on IS and some NX), and hybrids (RX400h, RX450h, ES300h, LS600h) carry a separate 12-volt battery in the trunk plus the high-voltage pack; inverter and ABS pump failures are known on 2006–2012 hybrids.
- Lexus Suspension & SteeringFront lower control arms with bushings, sway bar links and front struts are the most common ES and RX orders; ES350 (2007+) and RX350 F Sport use different struts, and RX models with Adaptive Variable Suspension use electronic dampers.
- Lexus Brake PartsRX330 and RX350 (2004–2015) use the same brake sizes as Highlander of the same generation, while the ES300/ES330/ES350 share with Camry and Avalon; the 2013+ ES350 grew its front rotors, and the F Sport package uses different pads.
- Lexus Cooling & AC PartsRX330 and RX350 radiators are known for cracked plastic tanks, and the 2GR-FE water pump is a frequent replacement sold with a new gasket and often the thermostat; ES and RX with tow packages use a different radiator.
- Lexus Drivetrain & ExhaustES and front-drive RX use CV axles that differ between the 5-speed, 6-speed and 8-speed transmissions, and RX AWD adds a rear driveshaft, transfer case and rear differential; RX330 and RX350 AWD rear differential mounts are a known clunk.
- Lexus Filters & FluidsThe 2GR V6 and 1UR V8 use a cartridge oil filter with a specific housing cap and O-ring, and Lexus specifies 0W-20 on most 2008-and-newer models; the older 1MZ and 3UZ use a spin-on filter and 5W-30.
